About

Hi, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to Ohio Gal Livin’ in SoCal. I grew up in Toledo, Ohio (home of the Jeep, Libby Glass and Katie Holmes), and moved to Southern California (my hubby’s native stomping ground) in August of 2009.

I am a wife, a full-time stay-at-home mommy to 2 handsome little boys, a fitness instructor, and lover of all things related to food, coffee, humor and kindness.

I try no to take life too seriously. I think laughter and exercise are the best forms of medicine and cheap therapy! I possess a slightly inappropriate, self-deprecating sense of humor (hey, if you can’t laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at?!), and I speak fluent sarcasm.

I love to grocery shop, cook, make recipes healthier, and most of all, eat. I enjoy running, weight lifting, bootcamps and yoga. I believe in an 80/20 lifestyle. Work hard 80% of the time, and you can enjoy playing 20% of the time. Eat your vegetables. But on Saturday, it’s ok to take the kids to get ice cream after an exhilarating Little League game!

I love living in the SoCal sun, minus the bad drivers. But hey, 300+ days of sunshine and near perfect weather makes me almost forget about them. Almost.

While I miss my friends and family, I’m happy to have hung up my snow boots and tossed my windshield ice scraper. Six months of inclement weather is the worst!

I will share all of my adventures of working out, cooking, eating, house-cleaning, and kid wrangling under the SoCal sun, all while refusing to give up my Ohio accent.

  1. Why did it take so long for me to find out you’ve started this?!? I’ve been waiting years for you to blog – happy to start reading 🙂

  2. Hi Stephanie,
I see that you are a NTC certified trainer. I am interested in becoming one too. Can I ask you how you got that?

    • Hi Jessica!

I am a Group Exercise Instructor for 24 Hour Fitness, which is the only health club that hosts NTC classes. To become an instructor I was invited to the NTC training workshop by my District Manager.
Through 24 Hour Fitness, attending the workshop is by invite only.
I’m not sure how to become an NTC Instructor through Nike.
I LOVE teaching NTC. It’s such an amazing class and workout. I’m so blessed I’m able to do it!
Are you a fitness instructor as well?!
